FAQs

Tape vs calipers vs DEXA accuracy?
Army tape ±3-4% vs DEXA. Calipers ±4-5%. BMI useless for muscular builds (±10%).
Why neck/waist ratio matters?
Android fat (waist) metabolically worse than gynoid (hips). Neck correlates with visceral fat.
Time of day effect?
Morning fasted: most accurate. Post-meal: +1-2%. Evening: +2-3% due to food/water.
Army vs Navy formula difference?
Navy adds height. Army circumference-only. Army 1-2% higher readings for same person.
Can muscular people pass easier?
Yes – BMI fails athletes (22% vs 12% BF). Tape method rewards muscle mass.
